Disney Bound: Space Mountain Edition

Space Mountain is hands down my favorite sentimental attraction at Walt Disney World.

My mom will tell you the story of how the first time I rode Space Mountain, I went into the queue a scared child. But as soon as the ride ended, and we were climbing out of the ride-vehicle she asked me “what did you think?” and I responded with excitement, “again?!” We now jokingly say “again?!” anytime we get off any ride that we like.

So, I love it… but there’s more to it… my great grandfather helped build it. He was an iron worker, and helped with most of the framing of the attraction.

Disney Bound: The Queen of Hearts

We’re four-plus months into quarantine, but all I can do is daydream about Dapper Day, and planning Disney-inspired outfits.

I decided to head to Amazon.com to find some pieces to put together a Queen of Hearts inspired look! The Queen of Hearts is by far my favorite villain of all time. As a side note: I’m often disappointed by villain merchandise as they rarely include her. Okay, ending my rant about that.

Avoiding The Heat At Walt Disney World

There’s no question, Florida is hot, hot, hot. And on summer days, it can feel like you’re walking on the surface of the sun.

Here are some tips:

For those of you who don’t know me personally, I’m super fair skinned, and I can turn about 5 shades of red darker after spending 10 minutes outdoors. Tip: instead of carrying with you the giant bottle, put just the amount you need into a travel sized shampoo container. Bonus Tip: Reapply. Set a timer/alarm on your phone if you have to. The Florida sun is brutal, even to those who are local. No one wants to get sunburnt on their first day of their trip and be miserable for the rest of their stay.

Buying one at your local store, or ordering one online ahead of time will save you big bucks when compared to buying one in the parks. The one I ordered is rechargeable, so I can easily recharge it with my power packs!

I picked one up at my local Walmart for less than $2. Is it fancy? No. Was I glad I had it? Yes. My big tip here: read the instructions. Some can be washed in a traditional washer and dryer, some need to be hand washed. Either way, this is a lifesaver. Tip: pack this in a zipper plastic bag in your backpack.

If you’ve packed your own water bottle, refill it/top it off every time you see a water fountain. I highly recommend bringing with you a water bottle that stays cold. Are these heavier than other water bottles? Yes. Does it make a difference to still have ice at 2:00pm? Yes.

On super hot days, most quick service locations will have iced water ready to go, so that guests can help themselves to cold water. Even if the quick service locations don’t have self-serve water stations at, you can always ask for a free cup of ice water.

Stay in the air conditioning whenever possible.

Walk through the gift shops instead of the walkways. If you’re forced to wait in a queue for a ride with a really long wait, choose one that’s indoors. I would choose Space Mountain over Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, for example.

On that same note, choose indoor attractions and shows. My favorites include: The Carousel of Progress, The Seas Pavilion at EPCOT, Frozen Sing-Along, Festival of the Lion King, and… literally any gift shop.

A Disney Day: June 1, 2019

This was the hottest day we’d been at Disney to date. We were constantly dreaming of that very cold January day when we went and wore gloves, a sweatshirt, and so many layers.

5 Ways to Bring Disney Magic To Your Desk

Is your boring cubicle bumming you out?

Below are five fantastic ways to add some Disney magic to your desk:

Drink your afternoon cup of joe (or tea) from a Disney mug!

Another way to use a Disney coffee mug is to store your pens, pencils, scissors, etc. It’s a simple and easy way to bring a touch of Disney to your desk.

If you’re allowed to change your desktop background, change it to a photo of you at the Happiest Place on Earth – or another Disney image. There are tons of free Disney wallpapers!

Write down your favorite Disney motivational quote and display it on your desk. I personally love these from Walt Disney:
